Win Kowa, born in Düsseldorf/Germany, is an Award-winning composer and an internationally recognized artist of progressive Independent Rock, Electronic and Ambient Music. In 1978, Win met his soon-to-be wife Jennifer, a founding member and the lead singer of the prog rock band Octopus. Her live performances and soulful, rocking voice inspired many critics to rate her as the genre’s best German female singer, and in 1981 the couple founded the power rock trio The RADIO. Win soon became an official endorser of Roland’s new GR-700 guitar synthesiser. Over the years, too, he and Jennifer worked with other well-known companies, among them Sennheiser, Hiwatt, Vantage, Paiste, and again Roland.

After intensive touring and recording with Streetmark, Octopus and The RADIO as a guitarist and composer, Win produced 6 CDs for IC-Digit  between 1992 and 2000, which were distributed in Europe, Russia and the USA. In addition, Win was invited to take part in numerous compilations such as Cafe del Mar, Cafe del Sol and compilations with artists such as Dido, Vangelis, Kitaro and Mike Oldfield. The worldwide success of these CDs, especially in the USA, opened the doors of advertising agencies and film productions to Win in the following years.

From 1996 onwards, he increasingly produced music for film and over 250 television commercials, including for international campaigns. For this work he received awards such as: several Gold Comprix in London, the Golden Award of Montreux and finalist of the Golden Globe in New York.

Win produced and recorded Jennifer's debut solo album “Slow Down” in 2018, mastered by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios/London.

At the beginning of 2023, Jennifer and Win met Marlon Klein, a founding member of the DISSIDENTEN and a globally recognized drummer and music producer, in the Exil Music Studio in Berlin. Immediately recognising their shared musical preferences, Win and Marlon swiftly decided to combine forces as producers on Jennifer's next solo album, Stay Strong, released on CD and Vinyl (Limited edition) on June 7, 2024. Tragically, Jennifer passed away just a few months later, on 25 July, but, despite the shock, Win and Marlon continued to collaborate.

Thus, in 2025, they founded KOWA + KLEIN, and “Summertime represents the first fruits of their endeavours. Featuring unreleased vocal tracks previously recorded by Jennifer, it combines the experience and enthusiasm of all involved, offering a modern take on indie rock that also pays homage to the music of the 20th century’s last decades. "Summertime," was released on September 26th, 2025 as Vinyl, CD, and digitally.

Win Kowa has lived near Frankfurt/Main for decades and now divides his time between Frankfurt and the UK.

In 2026, Win Kowa joined the Real Ax Band as a new member. This band, one of the most significant progressive krautrock-jazz-rock groups of the 1970s, had recently reformed.
